Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 24, A consortium of Eiffage, via its subsidiary Eiffage Construcción, and Acciona has won a €83.2 million contract to design and build a new urban circuit in Madrid for Formula 1 races. Eiffage’s share of the project is valued at €33.3 million. The circuit, located in the northeastern part of the city, is supported by IFEMA Madrid, a prominent fair organization.

The contract for new Formula 1 urban circuit in Madrid is valued at €83.2m.

The contract covers the construction, assembly, and dismantling of temporary infrastructure, as well as the restoration of streets and utilities after the event. The project also includes building new roads and facilities tailored for sporting events. Work is set to start in April 2026 and will be completed in time for the Spanish Grand Prix in the summer of 2027.

The consortium is committed to environmental sustainability. Approximately 700,000 cubic meters of excavated soil will be repurposed, with 60% reused on-site and 40% recycled elsewhere. To reduce CO₂ emissions, construction machinery will use hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), and road surfaces will incorporate photocatalytic materials to minimize gas emissions. A sustainable urban drainage system will promote rainwater infiltration to support groundwater levels. Additionally, the project involves transplanting 583 trees and installing 4,259 square meters of portable acoustic barriers in noise-sensitive areas.

Eiffage Construcción brings relevant expertise to the project, having previously resurfaced the Jerez Circuit for the MotoGP World Championship in 2009 and constructed a track in Carmona. The company also recently transformed the former Courrier Picard headquarters in Amiens, France, into a residential development named ‘Recto Verso.’

The Madrid circuit project aligns with the city’s vision to host major sporting events while prioritizing environmental responsibility and sustainable urban development.
