en.Wedoany.com Reported - JSW MG Motor India has confirmed that it will launch three new energy vehicles (NEVs) in the Indian market during the current fiscal year (FY2027).

One of these is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), expected to be based on the Wuling Starlight 560 SUV. This model has been spotted multiple times undergoing road tests in India. The Starlight 560 has a length slightly over 4.7 meters and a wheelbase of 2,810 mm, offering both 5-seat and 7-seat configurations. Its dimensions are roughly comparable to the MG Hector, but with a wheelbase approximately 60 mm longer.

In terms of powertrain, the plug-in hybrid powertrain features a 1.5-liter gasoline engine paired with a 20.5 kWh battery pack and an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 194 bhp (brake horsepower) and 230 Nm of torque. It claims an all-electric range of up to 100 kilometers.

Externally, the Starlight 560 adopts an upright proportion and boxy design elements, with a front face featuring elongated rectangular headlights, dual LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and a narrow grille. The plug-in hybrid version includes a large central air intake below the grille and a robust bumper. The side profile showcases square wheel arches and a wide window line, while the rear features rectangular taillights, a light-colored bumper, and a recessed license plate area on the tailgate.

The cabin interior adopts a minimalist design theme, featuring a standalone digital instrument cluster and a large standalone central touchscreen.

Regarding pure electric models, one is expected to be an electric version of the Starlight 560. This electric SUV has also been spotted undergoing road tests in India in recent months. Its main exterior difference from the plug-in hybrid version is that the air intake below the grille is replaced by a body-colored closed panel.

This pure electric vehicle is equipped with a 56.7 kWh battery pack and a front-mounted electric motor, delivering 134 bhp (brake horsepower) and 200 Nm of torque, with a claimed range of up to 500 kilometers on a full charge.

The second pure electric vehicle planned for the current fiscal year could be a replacement for the older MG ZS EV, or a new high-end pure electric model joining the MG M9 and Cyberster lineup, which will be available at MG's Select dealerships.
