en.Wedoany.com Reported - Ashat Khasenov, Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan's national oil and gas company KazMunayGas, chaired a production meeting at Embamunaygas (EMG) in Atyrau to discuss further exploration of existing fields and improving the profitability of operating assets.

Currently, EMG is implementing a series of investment projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency of oil and natural gas extraction. Among these, the West Karasor field, which began industrial development last year, has confirmed oil reserves of 2 million tons, with over 37,000 tons of oil extracted in the first half of 2026. In 2025, the first start-up complex at the West Prorva field was commissioned, with a designed annual natural gas capacity of 200 million cubic meters; the second phase of the project plans to increase annual capacity to 920 million cubic meters by 2027. The Southeast Novobogat field plans to commission a comprehensive gas treatment unit this year with an annual capacity of 80 million cubic meters. This project will provide additional stable supplies of commercial gas and liquefied hydrocarbon gas to the domestic market and increase oil production at the field from 20,000 tons to 110,000 tons per year.

To improve oil extraction efficiency, EMG systematically implements geological and technical measures, including vertical and horizontal drilling, sidetracking, and other modern technological solutions to maintain production levels. In the first half of 2026, oil and condensate production in the Emb area amounted to approximately 1.5 million tons.

Against the backdrop of the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence declared by the Head of State, EMG is actively implementing digital solutions. Currently, at the East Moldabek field, a pilot project—a digital twin—has been launched based on artificial intelligence technology using the "ABAI" information system. Additionally, six modules of the "ABAI" information system, aimed at improving production efficiency and operational process analysis, have been put into use. EMG also plans to introduce video analysis tools, an AI-based assistant for assessing well conditions, and a module for analyzing the efficiency of well workovers to enhance production safety.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ashat Khasenov instructed EMG management to implement investment projects with high quality and in a timely manner, continue expanding the resource base, and widely introduce new technologies in the future.
