St Patricks Plains is one of Tasmania's most advanced wind energy developments, having secured all major approvals, including Tasmanian planning approval and approval under the Australian Government's Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (EPBC Act). The project is currently progressing through secondary approvals and is nearing construction commencement.

Prior to this acquisition, Vestas and Ark Energy had established a development partnership on the Lotus Creek and St Patricks Plains wind farm projects. The Lotus Creek Wind Farm in central Queensland was acquired in 2022, reached financial close in 2024, and is currently under construction. This project demonstrates a proven pathway from development to delivery, which Vestas will apply to the St Patricks Plains project.

This acquisition strengthens Vestas Development Australia's renewable energy development portfolio, which now exceeds 13 GW nationwide.

Evan Carless, Vice President of Vestas Development Australia, said: "St Patricks Plains is one of Tasmania's most advanced wind energy developments and represents a significant opportunity to support the state's renewable energy future. We are proud of what we have achieved together with Ark Energy and thank their development team for the solid foundation laid. Our experience at Lotus Creek, from development to construction, provides a proven delivery model, and we are excited to bring this expertise to the St Patricks Plains Wind Farm in Tasmania."

Donna Bolton, General Manager of Ark Energy Tasmania Development, said: "Throughout the development of the St Patricks Plains Wind Farm, Vestas has been a valuable partner, bringing deep technical expertise and a shared commitment to delivering high-quality renewable energy projects. Ark Energy believes Vestas is ideally positioned to advance the approved project and deliver lasting benefits to the local community and Tasmania as it moves toward construction."
