en.Wedoany.com Reported - UK major housebuilder Taylor Wimpey plc has submitted a reserved matters application to Salford City Council, planning to build 171 homes on the Hazelhurst Farm site in Worsley, Greater Manchester. The project is part of a joint development between Taylor Wimpey and Story Homes, who previously jointly purchased the 60-acre site from developer Peel Land.

Taylor Wimpey is one of the UK's largest housebuilders, operating across England, Scotland, and Wales, with a focus on developing large-scale residential communities. Story Homes is a housebuilder headquartered in Northwest England, known for design-led residential developments, primarily operating in Northern England and Scotland. Peel Land is a subsidiary of the UK's Peel Group, specializing in land development and investment, with a substantial land bank and development projects in Northwest England.

This planning application follows Story Homes' submission of a 155-home plan in February 2026. Taylor Wimpey's application covers two phases totaling 11.5 acres, proposing one- to four-bedroom homes and apartments, with 20% designated as affordable housing. Turley is serving as the planning consultant for the project.

In November 2025, Peel Land obtained hybrid planning permission for the site, originally planning 400 homes and a primary school. The joint Taylor Wimpey and Story Homes scheme adjusts the total number of homes to 326, a reduction of 74 from the original plan, while retaining supporting facilities such as the primary school. The application has been published on Salford City Council's planning portal under reference number NOT/2026/0722.

Worsley, located west of Salford in Greater Manchester, is an important commuter town in the Manchester metropolitan area. In recent years, the area has benefited from urban expansion in Greater Manchester and improvements to transport infrastructure, driving sustained growth in housing demand. This planning application by Taylor Wimpey is part of a large-scale residential development project in the Worsley area, helping to alleviate local housing supply pressures. The advancement of this project will increase housing supply in Greater Manchester, promoting regional economic development and community building.
