en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 15, Braintree District Council announced the approval of £1.3 million in developer contribution funding for the Tye Green residential development project in Cressing, increasing the project's affordable housing provision by 21 units and converting all 35 planned homes to affordable housing. The additional homes include 11 social rent homes and 10 shared ownership homes. The project is being delivered by housing provider Delta Housing at a site on the east side of Braintree Road.

The project was previously planned for 35 homes, of which 14 were already designated as affordable housing. Following the local authority's additional funding, the remaining 21 units will be allocated to social rent and shared ownership housing programmes. The homes include two-bedroom, three-bedroom and four-bedroom unit types, configured for different household sizes. The additional funding comes from developer contributions under Section 106 planning agreements of the UK's Town and Country Planning Act 1990.

In May 2024, housing provider Chelmer Housing Partnership (CHP) and its affiliated organisation Myriad Housing acquired the Tye Green project site, which at the time already had outline planning permission for 35 homes. The project's construction development partner is Chartway Partnerships Group, responsible for detailed design and housing delivery. In April 2026, CHP merged with Estuary Housing Association to form Delta Housing, with the original housing development operations incorporated into the new organisation.

On 11 March 2026, Chartway announced that the project had received reserved matters planning approval from Braintree District Council, covering building layout, scale, appearance and landscaping design. The development scheme requires all homes to achieve EPC A energy efficiency standards and to be equipped with air source heat pumps, solar photovoltaic panels and electric vehicle charging facilities.
