en.Wedoany.com Reported - Lufthansa has taken delivery of its first Airbus A350-1000, which is the 700th Airbus aircraft delivered to the Lufthansa Group and the airline's largest twin-engine aircraft ever. Before entering commercial service, the aircraft will undergo test flights, final cabin preparation, and acceptance checks in Toulouse. It will then be transferred to its Munich base later this year, officially named "Deutschland," with registration D-AIFA.

This delivery is part of Lufthansa's fleet renewal program. The entire Lufthansa Group expects to add over 250 new aircraft to its fleet by the end of the 2020s. Lufthansa has ordered 15 A350-1000s, along with additional A350-900s, Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, and Boeing 777-9s.

The addition of the A350-1000 introduces a new aircraft type to Lufthansa's fleet. Lufthansa has operated the smaller A350-900 since 2017, while the stretched -1000 variant offers greater capacity and longer range, improving economics on busy intercontinental routes. The aircraft is 242 feet (73.8 meters) long with a wingspan of 212 feet (64.8 meters), approximately 23 feet (7 meters) longer than the A350-900. Airbus lists the A350-1000's maximum range at 9,100 nautical miles (16,900 kilometers), capable of carrying 350 to 410 passengers in a typical three-class configuration on ultra-long-haul flights.

This aircraft is also the 700th Airbus delivered to the Lufthansa Group, highlighting a partnership spanning over four decades. Lufthansa was one of the earliest operators of the Airbus A300 and has since introduced the A310, A320 family, A330, A340, A350, and A380. Today, Airbus aircraft form the core of Lufthansa Group's short-haul operations and represent a growing share of its long-haul network. To mark this milestone, the aircraft was delivered in a unique special livery celebrating Lufthansa's 100th anniversary, using 114 gallons (432 liters) of blue paint and 65 gallons (246 liters) of white paint. Other selected aircraft will also wear special anniversary liveries.

The A350-1000 will feature Lufthansa's new Allegris cabin products, including redesigned first-class suites, business-class seats with sliding privacy doors, and upgraded premium economy and economy classes. The aircraft is expected to become one of Lufthansa's flagship long-haul products. Operationally, Airbus states that the A350-1000 reduces fuel consumption per seat by approximately 25% compared to previous-generation aircraft of similar size, with a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions. Its carbon-fiber composite structure and Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines reduce external noise by up to 50%, making it one of the quietest large commercial aircraft in service today.
