en.Wedoany.com Reported - OMV Petrom has completed the installation of 384 electric vehicle charging points, reaching a milestone of 1,500 charging points across Europe.

The oil and gas company stated that the latest expansion was implemented under an EU-supported project aimed at enhancing electric mobility infrastructure along the TEN-T corridor. This corridor connects Bratislava, Budapest, Oradea, and Cluj-Napoca, serving as a backbone of the European transport network, covering major highways, railways, and ports across 36 countries.
The total value of the project reaches 40 million euros, with the EU providing up to 12 million euros in grants to Romania through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). Radu Căprău, member of the OMV Petrom Executive Board responsible for Refining and Marketing, noted that the company has rapidly expanded its network from approximately 120 charging stations in 2022 to around 1,500 across the region today. He emphasized that public funding remains crucial for supporting infrastructure expansion and its economic viability.
The 384 newly installed ultra-fast charging points are specifically distributed in Romania (304), Hungary (28), and Slovakia (52), covering cities such as Bratislava, Budapest, Oradea, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, Tulcea, Constanța, Giurgiu, Focșani, Bacău, and Suceava.
The project was implemented by a consortium led by OMV Petrom Marketing, including OMV Hungária KFT and OMV Slovensko, in collaboration with the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). OMV Petrom explained that this initiative supports the EU's development of interoperable alternative fuel infrastructure along the TEN-T corridor, promoting cross-border transport decarbonization. Earlier in 2024, the company had acquired Renovatio Asset Management, which operates 400 electric vehicle charging points in Romania.
