en.Wedoany.com Reported - The UK government has officially approved the One Earth solar farm project located in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. This large-scale renewable energy facility will include a battery energy storage system and is planned to connect to the High Marnham substation. It is expected to generate up to 740 MW of renewable electricity, sufficient to power over 200,000 UK households while avoiding 2.1 million tonnes of CO2 emissions.

The project is developed by PS Renewables in partnership with Perigus Energy, the latter formerly a subsidiary of Ørsted. The project plan includes a series of environmental improvement measures aimed at supporting local wildlife and enhancing biodiversity. In addition to clean energy generation, the One Earth project will establish a community benefit fund and provide employment and skills training programs to create local job opportunities.

As one of the UK's largest onshore renewable energy investment projects, One Earth has been designated as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project. The application for a Development Consent Order was submitted in February 2025 and underwent a six-month review by the Planning Inspectorate, including public hearings, site inspections, and consultations with local authorities, technical agencies, and community representatives before the final decision.

Matt Hazell, co-owner of PS Renewables, expressed delight at reaching this important milestone and thanked all those involved in the review process, stating that large-scale renewable energy projects need to progress as quickly as possible while ensuring proper scrutiny. Randall Linfoot, Project Manager at Perigus Energy, noted that solar power is a vital component in making the electricity system run on clean energy, and the team looks forward to continuing engagement with local communities and stakeholders as the project moves into its next phase.

The next stage for the One Earth project is to secure investment approval. Construction is expected to take two years, with a target completion date before 2029.
