Uzbekistan's Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company's Gold Output Falls 2% in First Half of 2026

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Uzbekistan's Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Company (NGMK) produced 1.5088 million troy ounces (approximately 46.9 tons) of gold in the first half of 2026, a 2% decrease compared to 1.5376 million troy ounces in the same period of 2025.

In value terms, the company's gold output in the first half of the year increased by 41.8% year-on-year, reaching 86.2 trillion Uzbek soums (approximately $7.1 billion). During the same period, the total amount of funds allocated for the investment program was $236.8 million, compared to $219.5 million in the first half of 2025. According to the company's press release, NGMK added over 1,000 new jobs from January to June 2026.

In 2026, the vehicle fleet of the Central Mine Administration was updated with modern mining dump trucks and other mining machinery. At the Muruntau open-pit mine, construction and equipment installation work is underway for the conveyor belt line of the cyclic-flow technology.

From January to July this year, electric excavators with a bucket capacity of 10 cubic meters, graders, and front-end loaders were introduced at the Daugyztau and Vostochny mines.

The tailings storage facility for Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 3 is under construction.

Capacity expansion is being implemented at Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 7. This year, construction of the ore preparation and screening area has been completed; work on the concentration and desorption workshop is ongoing, while power supply networks are being laid. Plans also include expanding the maintenance mechanical workshop and reagent warehouse, as well as constructing a service building and utility networks.

Modernization and technical upgrades continue at Hydrometallurgical Plant No. 2. Since the beginning of the year, with the commissioning of two additional grinding units, the number of operating mills at the plant has increased to 82.

In the expansion and renovation project of the tailings storage facility at GMP-2, new waste storage ponds are being built, the dump site is being raised, water intake facilities are under construction, and a 21-kilometer-long slurry pipeline is being installed.
