en.Wedoany.com Reported - Itochu Cable System announced on July 15, 2026, that it has delivered the Ceragon Networks millimeter-wave wireless device "IP-50E" to cable TV operator I-Can, aimed at upgrading communication infrastructure in areas where fiber optic deployment is difficult, such as remote islands and mountainous regions.

For cable TV operators, upgrading communication capacity and speed in areas where fiber optic cables cannot be physically laid often involves significant cost and schedule challenges. This project involves upgrading the existing wireless system to achieve higher communication speed and quality over a maritime section of approximately 3.41 kilometers between Kamino-ura and Ukishima in Suo-Oshima Town, Oshima District, Yamaguchi Prefecture, under I-Can's jurisdiction.

After installing Ceragon's IP-50E equipment, the average effective throughput for both uplink and downlink in System A and System B was approximately 9.2 Gbps, reaching a level comparable to fiber optic lines. Test results indicate that a stable ultra-high-speed communication network can be established even over a long-distance maritime section spanning approximately 3.41 kilometers.
