en.Wedoany.com Reported - Zenobē has signed a leasing agreement with Australian retailer Woolworths to deploy 148 electric trucks, marking the country's largest electric truck fleet project to date.

The first vehicles of the project began delivery in May this year, and with support from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), the entire fleet is expected to be deployed by 2026.

Gareth Ridge, Zenobē's Regional Director for Australia and New Zealand, believes the project demonstrates that electrification is commercially viable. He stated that large-scale zero-emission logistics has moved from the pilot phase to commercial operational validation.

Last month, Zenobē officially opened expressions of interest for its fleet electrification program, inviting medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicle operators across Australia to participate.

The maturity of electric vehicle infrastructure, financing models, and operational capabilities is driving partnerships supported by institutions like the CEFC to help build a cleaner, more resilient national transportation network.

This new agreement builds on the CEFC's previous investment of AUD 6 million (approximately GBP 3.11 million) in Zenobē, which supported the deployment of 60 electric trucks.

Zenobē is advancing its broader goal of doubling the number of electric trucks in Australia by the end of 2026 compared to current levels.

Currently, Zenobē supports over 3,400 commercial electric vehicles across 122 depots worldwide and is also the largest owner and operator of electric buses in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

Ridge added that the direction set in the next five years will define the trajectory for the next two decades.
