en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 12, 2026, COSCO Shipping Lines officially launched the CHX3 feeder service, achieving for the first time a weekly operation connecting the ports of Paita and Chancay in Peru with Puerto Caldera in Costa Rica. This feeder service is the latest expansion since the opening of Chancay Port nearly two years ago and represents a new initiative by COSCO Shipping to deepen its presence on the west coast of South America.

The Port of Paita is a key container and cold chain distribution hub in northern Peru, serving industrial regions such as Piura, Lambayeque, and Cajamarca, and gathering foreign trade enterprises in agriculture, aquatic processing, mining, and textiles. With the launch of the CHX3 feeder service, local cargo can be shipped directly from Paita to Chancay Port, seamlessly connecting to deep-sea routes bound for Asia, effectively reducing logistics time and lowering costs for land transport, warehousing, and detention charges. This service is tailored to meet the export needs of fresh and cold chain products such as avocados, grapes, and aquatic goods. Ecosac, a Peruvian fruit exporter, stated that the feeder service will effectively shorten the overall transit time for fresh fruit, reduce the risk of cargo damage, and further expand export channels for fresh fruit to the Asian market. Luis Felipe Turbides, Deputy General Manager of the TPE Terminal at Paita Port, noted that the feeder service can stably attract incremental reefer container volumes, fully leverage existing cold chain facilities, and improve terminal operational efficiency.

For Costa Rica, cargo from Puerto Caldera can now switch to a new transshipment route, significantly shortening overall logistics time and enhancing delivery reliability. COSCO Shipping will continue to deepen hub construction, improve the full-chain supporting service system, and assist local enterprises in exploring overseas markets.
