en.Wedoany.com Reported - Turkish cement producer Çimsa announced on July 15, 2026, that its calcium aluminate cement (CAC) production line at the Mersin plant has officially commenced operations. The investment for this production line amounts to $31.8 million, with an annual capacity of 66,000 tonnes. This expansion increases the company's total CAC annual capacity from 131,000 tonnes to 197,000 tonnes.

Çimsa, a subsidiary of Turkey's Sabancı Holding, is the country's first and only producer of calcium aluminate cement. The company operates two CAC production facilities in Mersin, with a total investment exceeding $75 million across the two phases of expansion.

In 2024, Çimsa completed its first capacity expansion, raising CAC annual capacity from 65,000 tonnes to 131,000 tonnes. The commissioning of this new production line marks the second phase of the company's capacity doubling strategy. Through these two expansions, Çimsa has tripled its CAC capacity within two years. With this investment, Çimsa has become the world's third-largest producer of calcium aluminate cement.

Calcium aluminate cement is a specialty cement primarily composed of calcium aluminate, characterized by rapid hardening, high strength, high-temperature resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance. It is widely used in high-end sectors such as refractory materials, construction chemicals, wastewater treatment, and marine engineering. This capacity expansion will help Çimsa further expand its export markets and enhance its portfolio of high-value-added products.

Çimsa stated that the new production line adopts the latest technology and efficient design, with construction expected to be completed in the first half of 2026. As a building materials company under Sabancı Holding, Çimsa has further strengthened its position in the global specialty cement market through this investment.
