Tajikistan's Sementi Khatlon Launches Construction of 1.2 Million Ton Cement Plant

en.Wedoany.com Reported - A groundbreaking ceremony was held for a new cement plant in Kushoniyon District, Khatlon Region, Tajikistan, with the project being undertaken by Sementi Khatlon. The plant site is located in Nurafshon village, Bustonqala town, covering approximately 30 hectares, with a designed cement production capacity of 1.2 million tons per year, and construction is planned to be completed by 2029. At this stage, publicly available information confirms the groundbreaking and construction plans, while the EPC contractor, project investment amount, and procurement arrangements for major production equipment have not yet been disclosed.

The project's raw material supply plan has been finalized. The plant is located near the Kurgontepa limestone deposit in Kushoniyon District, and the limestone required for production is planned to be supplied from this deposit; the coal used in production is planned to be transported to the plant from other mining areas in Tajikistan. Upon completion of the project, cement production will be organized using local raw materials.

Approximately 1,000 workers are expected to be deployed during the construction phase. After the plant goes into operation, more than 700 long-term positions are planned to be established. According to the currently published schedule, the project will enter the construction preparation stage following the groundbreaking in 2026, ultimately forming a cement production capacity of 1.2 million tons per year, with the planned construction completion date set for 2029.

This project is one of the new cement capacity projects launched in Tajikistan in 2026. Previously released information shows that in mid-2026, construction had already commenced on two other cement plants in Kharangon village, Varzob District, and in the city of Istaravshan, with a combined planned cement capacity of approximately 3.6 million tons per year. The Kushoniyon project separately adds 1.2 million tons per year of new planned capacity.
