en.Wedoany.com Reported - GS Caltex fully introduced digital and artificial intelligence technologies during the first-half turnaround at its Yeosu plant, successfully completing large-scale scheduled maintenance across all nine units. GS Caltex stated that the turnaround (TA) lasted approximately 60 days starting from May this year, with a budget of around 200 billion KRW and an average daily workforce of 3,000 personnel.

TA (Turnaround) refers to large-scale scheduled maintenance work that involves shutting down refining and petrochemical units to conduct concentrated inspections of major production equipment. Based on its Digital and AI Transformation (DAX) strategy, GS Caltex deployed multiple digital solutions during this turnaround. For example, to manage motor-operated valves (MOVs), the company developed the "Mobision" application based on a three-dimensional (3D) model in collaboration with Google Earth. Additionally, robots were used to clean the internal pipes of heaters, enabling precise management of hard-to-reach areas.

In terms of safety management, GS Caltex also introduced AI-powered closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems capable of real-time detection of various risk factors, including the wearing of safety gear, the usage status of safety hooks, and the proximity of personnel to heavy equipment, further strengthening on-site safety control. GS Caltex Vice Chairman Huh Se-hong stated that this TA was a beneficial practice combining field experience with digital and AI technologies to enhance both efficiency and safety. He added that the company will continue to drive innovation in manufacturing sites based on the DAX strategy to ensure corporate competitiveness.
