en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 16, 2026, the first batch of Envision Energy EN-182/7.8 MW wind turbines for Fortescue's 132 MW Nullagine Wind Project has been shipped from China, en route to the Pilbara region of Western Australia. These 7.8 MW units will become the largest onshore wind turbines ever installed in Australia.

The Nullagine Wind Project is Fortescue's first large-scale wind project in Western Australia and a key component of the company's renewable energy and decarbonization strategy. The project will install 17 EN-182/7.8 MW wind turbines, utilizing self-erecting tower technology from Spanish company Nabrawind, which was acquired by Fortescue, with a hub height of 188 meters. This technology allows for smaller foundations and cranes, making it particularly suitable for remote areas like the Pilbara.
The first prototype turbine was successfully connected to the grid earlier this year. The equipment shipped this time marks the first batch delivery following prototype validation. As the project progresses, additional turbines will be shipped in the coming months. Fortescue plans to establish a "green grid" in the Pilbara region by early 2028 and complete mine electrification by 2030, eliminating reliance on natural gas and diesel.
