Norway's DOF Wins Transport and Installation Contract for Floating Offshore Wind in the North Sea

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 7, Norwegian offshore engineering contractor DOF secured a transport and installation contract for a floating offshore wind project in the North Sea. Engineering design for the project has already commenced, and DOF is working with the client to advance offshore construction preparations.

The contract scope includes nearshore marine operations, pre-laying of the mooring system, tow-out and offshore installation of floating wind turbines, as well as installation of dynamic and static export cables. DOF will participate in multiple construction phases, from front-end engineering design and mooring preparation to floating unit positioning and cable installation.

Offshore operations for the project will first complete the pre-laying of the mooring system, followed by the tow-out of floating wind turbines from the nearshore assembly area to the North Sea project site, positioning, and mooring connection, along with the installation of dynamic and static export cables. DOF stated that the company will remain involved until the final cable installation is completed and will support the project through to its first power generation phase.

DOF currently operates a fleet of subsea engineering, anchor handling, offshore transport, and cable-laying vessels, and continues to undertake renewable energy infrastructure projects in the North Sea. In 2026, the company also secured a contract from Norwegian transmission system operator Statnett to replace subsea high-voltage cables, replacing 4 high-voltage subsea cables in Ofotfjorden, with major offshore construction scheduled for 2027.
