en.Wedoany.com Reported - China's installed power generation capacity exceeded 4 billion kilowatts in the first half of the year, with rapid growth in non-fossil energy installations such as wind and solar power, which are becoming the absolute mainstay of new capacity additions. During the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, China's power installation capacity is expected to reach a new milestone of 5 billion kilowatts, with wind and solar photovoltaic installations accounting for over 50%, and non-fossil energy will also become the main source of electricity.

With the expansion of wind and solar photovoltaic installation capacity, absorption capacity has become a key issue. In Dingzhou, Hebei Province, the Dingzhou 200MW/400MWh independent energy storage project, contracted by the Shanxi Institute of China Energy Engineering Group's China Power Engineering Consulting Group, has been connected to the grid. This project, similar to a large power bank, can enhance the regional power grid's capacity to absorb new energy.

The project manager of the Dingzhou energy storage project from the Shanxi Institute of China Power Engineering Consulting Group introduced that the project utilizes artificial intelligence technology to respond to grid dispatch demands in real time. During peak electricity consumption or periods of load tension, the system can rapidly discharge to fill gaps, ensuring stable power supply; when there is surplus electricity, it can store clean energy.

The project can be charged and discharged once per day, absorbing 400,000 kWh of green electricity each time, and can help absorb approximately 125 million kWh of wind and solar new energy annually, equivalent to the annual household electricity demand of 45,000 ordinary families.

As of now, the installed capacity of new energy in the southern Hebei power grid has exceeded 56 million kilowatts, accounting for over 60% of the total. The region has put into operation 29 independent energy storage facilities, providing a peak capacity of over 4 million kilowatts, and can increase new energy absorption by approximately 4.4 billion kWh annually. During the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, the southern Hebei power grid plans to put 20 million kilowatts of energy storage into operation.
