DIMAAG and Toshiba Develop 10C Lithium Titanate Energy Storage System for AI Data Centers
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 9, DIMAAG-AI and Toshiba International Corporation announced a collaboration to develop a next-generation energy storage system for AI data centers, integrating Toshiba's SCiB lithium titanate batteries into DIMAAG's ZettaWatt Power Platform. The system targets set by both parties include continuous 10C charge and discharge capability and a target service life of more than 10 years, primarily intended to address scenarios such as rapid fluctuations in AI computing loads, low-voltage ride-through, backup power supply, demand response, and grid stability.

Under the division of responsibilities, Toshiba will supply high-power SCiB lithium titanate cells, while DIMAAG will handle battery system design, manufacturing, and system integration, integrating the cells into the Zenius battery module featuring active flow immersion cooling technology. Toshiba SCiB has shipped more than 100 million cells cumulatively since 2010; the cells used in this data center solution can support continuous 10C charging and 10C discharging under matched cooling system conditions.
The battery system will connect to the ZettaWatt platform launched by DIMAAG in August this year. The platform adopts a modular architecture from the grid side to an 800V DC bus, integrating power conversion, energy storage, and real-time control within the same system. A single standardized power module is rated at up to the 5MW class and can be scaled through parallel connection to the 100MW class and larger data center campuses. DIMAAG disclosed that the architecture has undergone independent simulation verification by Electric Power Engineers and has been demonstrated under AI training load conditions.
The ZettaWatt system can absorb power fluctuations generated by GPU computing loads within the 0.1–55Hz range, with a design target of limiting periodic power fluctuations to within 1% at the grid interface side and meeting the ERCOT low-voltage ride-through requirements in Texas, USA. The platform also integrates instantaneous backup power functionality, providing approximately 4 minutes of UPS support time to provide a time window for backup generator startup and power ramp-up.
This collaboration is currently in the energy storage system development, design, and verification phase. After integrating SCiB batteries into the ZettaWatt platform, DIMAAG plans to expand deployment for high-power, high-frequency cycling AI data center applications; multiple ZettaWatt modules can be scaled in parallel as data center campus capacity increases.
