en.Wedoany.com Reported - Maersk has launched a new distribution center in Suape, Pernambuco, Brazil, to expand its warehousing, distribution, and transportation solutions. Located in Cabo de Santo Agostinho, approximately 20 kilometers from the Suape Port and Recife International Airport (Aeropuerto Internacional de Recife), the facility enables Maersk to integrate maritime, coastal, land transport, warehousing, and distribution services through a single comprehensive logistics solution.

This investment aims to respond to the growing economic dynamism in northeastern Brazil, a region that is continuously consolidating its position as a hub for consumption, manufacturing, and international trade. Ricardo Rocha, Vice President and Managing Director for Maersk's East Coast of South America, stated that Brazil remains one of Maersk's most strategically important markets in Latin America, with the northeast emerging as a key hub for industry, trade, and logistics. By strengthening its presence in Suape, Maersk can help customers reduce operational complexity and access more efficient integrated solutions connecting production centers, ports, and consumer markets.
The distribution center can serve customers in sectors such as consumer goods, retail, automotive, technology, electronics, and food and beverage. Its strategic location adjacent to the Suape Port Complex (Complejo Portuario de Suape) connects domestic distribution networks with international trade flows, facilitating the movement of goods between regional and global markets. The center can handle a wide range of cargo, from manufacturing process components to oversized project cargo and large household appliances, featuring capabilities for fulfillment and transload, cross-docking, and dedicated bulk cargo areas.
The center covers a total area of 11,920 square meters, with a warehouse area of 10,850 square meters and a capacity of 11,297 pallet positions. It features 36 loading and unloading docks and 4 ramps. The clear height is 12 meters, with a floor load capacity of 5 tons per square meter. Operations are managed through Maersk's global Warehouse Management System (WMS), providing real-time inventory visibility and data-driven decision-making tools. In terms of sustainable operations, the center implements a waste segregation and recycling program, full-area LED lighting, and electric cargo handling equipment powered entirely by lithium batteries to reduce local greenhouse gas emissions.
