en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Telecommunications and Postal Regulatory Authority (ARTP) of Senegal and the National Maritime Affairs Agency (ANAM) have renewed their partnership agreement, aiming to enhance maritime safety by optimizing the management of radio frequencies and maritime communication systems.

The renewal ceremony was held during a workshop on the management of radio frequencies, Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) numbers, and call signs, attended by ARTP Director General Dahirou Thiam and ANAM Director General Bécaye Diop.
In his remarks at the meeting, Thiam noted that radio frequencies play a critical role in protecting life safety at sea, and that effective spectrum management is indispensable for maintaining reliable maritime communications, preventing harmful interference, and supporting search and rescue operations.
He stated that the proper allocation and management of radio frequencies help protect the safety of personnel and property by ensuring uninterrupted communication between vessels and maritime authorities.
The workshop also focused on the management of MMSI numbers, which enable rapid identification of vessels and provide key information about the ship, its communication equipment, and crew.
By renewing the cooperation agreement, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening maritime safety and will enhance collaboration to address evolving technologies and the increasing prevalence of digital systems in the maritime domain.
This renewed partnership is expected to drive the establishment of a modern and efficient framework for maritime communication and safety governance in Senegal.
