en.Wedoany.com Reported - CyrusOne plans to build a $500 million data center campus in Castroville, San Antonio. The facility will be located at 3397 West US Highway 90, under the project name SAT14A, with a building area of 460,000 square feet (42,735 square meters).

According to documents submitted to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the project is expected to break ground in December this year and be completed by June 2027. The documents do not disclose the specific capacity of the data center, nor do they specify the tenant for the Castroville facility.

SAT14A will be CyrusOne's sixth data center in the San Antonio area and its 11th in Texas. The company's other facilities in the region include: the 9MW SAT1 at 9999 Westover Hills Blvd, the 36MW campus at 9554 Westover Hills Blvd (covering SAT2-SAT3), SAT4 at 9655 Raba Drive, and the 18MW SAT5-SAT6 at 14719 Omicron Drive.

Earlier this month, Dallas-based CyrusOne broke ground on a new data center campus in Freestone County, about 90 miles (144.8 kilometers) south of Dallas. This week, the company also announced that it has received approval to build a data center on the site of a former cereal production facility known as the "Honey Monster Factory" in West London, England.

San Antonio is growing in popularity as a data center location, being one of Texas's secondary markets. Microsoft operates multiple data centers in the region and recently applied to build two additional facilities near the city; Amazon Web Services (AWS) operates one facility in the area and is reportedly planning to build two more.
