The test, undertaken by China Nuclear Industry Fifth Construction Co., Ltd. (CNF), showed that all performance parameters met design requirements, laying a critical foundation for subsequent cold functional tests.
The main pump is the core equipment of the primary coolant circulation system in a nuclear power plant. The no-load test is used to verify the operational stability, mechanical matching performance, and control system reliability of the main pump motor. During the test, dozens of indicators such as motor speed, vibration amplitude, and bearing temperature must be continuously and precisely monitored. The results directly affect the subsequent commissioning progress and long-term safe operation of the unit.
To ensure the test succeeded on the first attempt, the Hainan Changjiang Nuclear Power Plant Project Department of CNF, in collaboration with the owner, supervision team, general contractor, and equipment manufacturers, established a dedicated task force. The project department reviewed the no-load construction experience of the main pump for Unit 3, replicated and promoted mature practices to Unit 4, refined the test implementation plan, and compiled a special operation guidance manual. Additionally, technical personnel conducted multiple rounds of technical briefings and sand table simulations, refining area control, data collection, job responsibilities, standardized procedures, and emergency response measures, thereby laying a technical foundation for the smooth execution of the test.

Upon the on-site command, the main pump motor of Loop 2 started smoothly, with monitoring data fed back in real time, and all parameters remained within the design allowable range. After two hours of continuous no-load operation and full-process tracking monitoring, the main pump motor operated stably, with key indicators such as vibration and temperature remaining stable and controllable. Overall performance met design specifications, and no abnormalities occurred throughout the process.
CNF stated that it will continue to advance the project construction, providing clean energy for the Hainan Free Trade Port and serving China's "dual carbon" strategy.
