en.Wedoany.com Reported - Finnish technology company Wärtsilä has signed an agreement with U.S. cruise operator Carnival to provide lifecycle services for four of its LNG-powered cruise ships.

In a statement released on Monday, Wärtsilä said the eight-year lifecycle agreement covers four vessels in the fleets of Princess Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line, including two newbuilds currently under construction. The order was signed in the second quarter and marks the first service contract between the two companies involving Carnival's LNG-powered cruise ships.

Under the agreement, Wärtsilä will provide lifecycle maintenance solutions for the ships' Wärtsilä dual-fuel engines and related equipment. The scope of services includes planned and unplanned maintenance support, spare parts supply and logistics, engine overhauls, remote monitoring and condition-based maintenance, technical audits, and performance assessments. Wärtsilä did not disclose the value of the transaction.

Carnival was the first in the cruise industry to use LNG as a fuel in 2018 and currently operates 11 LNG-powered cruise ships, leading the sector. The company expects an additional seven LNG-powered vessels to enter its fleet by the end of 2033.
