en.Wedoany.com Reported - Maple Grove Developments (MGD) has taken over the Hattersley Trade Park project in Tameside, UK, from contractor Britcon. The project, with a total investment of £13 million, covers 57,000 square feet and includes trade counter space and an Aldi food supermarket.

The 5.5-acre brownfield site, located near Stockport Road and Ashworth Lane, had been vacant for 15 years. MGD, part of the Eric Wright Group, has positioned the project as a high-quality mixed-use destination. Its completion marks the imminent realization of Tameside Council's long-standing goal to develop the Hattersley district center. The plan was initiated in 2015, with MGD first brought in in 2016. After subsequent adjustments, securing Aldi as the anchor tenant became a key turning point.

The development offers eight modern trade counter units, ranging from 3,000 to 6,000 square feet each, totaling 32,000 square feet. The tenant mix includes an Aldi supermarket, a Costa Coffee café with drive-thru service. The site also features 179 customer parking spaces and an ultra-fast electric vehicle charging hub developed in partnership with Be.EV. Partners include Onward Homes, Tameside Council, The Harris Partnership, Abacus Cost Management, ICIS Design, and Knight Frank.

Nick Hague, Project Director at MGD, stated that taking over the project from contractor Britcon was a very positive collaborative experience, with the on-site team demonstrating professionalism and commitment. Nick Shepherd, Managing Director of Britcon, noted that the project demonstrates how effective collaboration, sustainable design, and targeted investment can create lasting community impact.

MGD stated that all units are expected to achieve an EPC A rating, with the Aldi and Costa sections attaining BREEAM "Very Good" certification, and the remaining sections achieving BREEAM "Excellent" certification.
