The six-month moving average of the seasonally adjusted annual rate in June was 248,123 units, a decrease of 2.8% from May.

In urban centers with a population of 50,000 or more, the total number of housing units under construction in June was 375,469, up 0.2% from May; completions totaled 18,298 units, an increase of 8.4% month-over-month.

The number of housing units with building permits issued but not yet started in June was 137,324, down 1.1% from May.

The seasonally adjusted annual rate of rural starts in June was estimated at 11,141 units.
