en.Wedoany.com Reported - Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has produced approximately 1 GW of ALMM-certified heterojunction (HJT) solar modules at its Jamnagar New Energy Super Complex, and is on track to build 20 GW of annual solar manufacturing capacity in an integrated manner while scaling up its battery business.
During the company's Q1 FY2027 earnings call, Karan Suri, Senior Vice President of New Energy, stated that Reliance's clean energy projects, encompassing renewable power generation, manufacturing, and green fuels, are entering a large-scale execution phase. In manufacturing, the company has produced approximately 1 GW of HJT solar modules and solar cells, all certified under India's Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM).
Suri added that the integrated solar manufacturing facility, covering polysilicon, wafers, cells, modules, and glass, is progressing toward full operations. The wafer pilot line has been completed, and the company is transitioning to large-scale manufacturing, with production expected to commence in the coming quarters. The polysilicon facility is nearing completion, and the plant is being prepared for startup and commissioning.
"We are on track to achieve 20 GW of annual solar photovoltaic manufacturing capacity in an integrated manner," Suri said. Reliance previously announced plans to build four giga-factories for solar photovoltaics, energy storage, green hydrogen and fuel cell systems, and one power electronics giga-factory.
Reliance is also advancing its battery cell manufacturing facility, targeting 40 GWh of capacity to come online this year, with plans to expand annual battery manufacturing capacity to 120 GWh.
The company stated that construction and engineering work for the Kutch Renewable Ecosystem is progressing, with solar installations expected to begin after the monsoon season. As transmission infrastructure becomes operational, the company anticipates starting power supply from Kutch later this year. The park, spanning 550,000 acres, is designed to provide gigawatt-scale round-the-clock (RTC) power by combining solar and battery energy storage systems. The company previously announced that upon completion, it will generate over 40 billion units of green electricity annually, accounting for approximately 3% of India's annual power demand.
Reliance is prepared to execute 55 MW of solar photovoltaic installations and 150 MWh of battery deployments daily at peak capacity. This renewable energy will support its Jamnagar refinery, new energy business, data centers, and planned green fuel complex. The company added that it has signed a $3 billion green ammonia contract with Samsung C&T and is in discussions with additional strategic partners for the remaining green fuel capacity.
