en.Wedoany.com Reported - China Logistics' subsidiary, Huamao Logistics Zhongte Logistics, recently completed the transport of the first ultra-high voltage (UHV) reactor for the Aba-Chengdu East 1000kV UHV AC transmission and transformation project's Aba substation, with the equipment successfully handed over. The reactor departed from a transformer factory in Wujiang, Jiangsu, underwent multiple transshipments via road and water transport, and ultimately arrived safely at the Aba substation site at an altitude of 3,700 meters in Sichuan. This marks a key milestone in the construction of the world's highest altitude UHV AC transmission and transformation project.

The Aba substation is located in Miyaluo Town, Li County, Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province, featuring complex terrain along the route and high difficulty in material transport. As a core piece of substation equipment, the reactor has a net height and width of nearly 5 meters each, a net weight exceeding 130 tons, and a center of gravity offset of 385 millimeters from the center to the left and right. The 13-kilometer access road alone requires navigating 13 "U"-shaped curves, with a maximum longitudinal gradient of 13%, imposing extremely high demands on transport safety, stability, and timeliness.
The project team conducted multiple surveys of the transport route, precisely measuring the heights of fans at the tops of dozens of tunnels along the route, the turning radii of the access road and highway ramps, and the traffic capacity of toll stations. Considering conditions such as low atmospheric pressure, low oxygen content, large diurnal temperature differences, variable weather, and frequent geological disasters in the plateau region, they developed detailed transport plans and emergency response protocols. The technical equipment team collaborated with the frame trailer manufacturer to innovatively develop a specially shaped crossbeam for the frame trailer, addressing the reactor's center of gravity offset issue.
Before the official transport, the project team conducted a full-scale simulated transport, with the simulated counterweight configured at 1.1 times the reactor's weight. Technical personnel monitored the passability of every curve and obstacle throughout the process. Given the steep slopes and sharp curves of the mountain roads, they coordinated the modification of multiple overhead obstacles and recorded risk points. When a sudden landslide on the access road required repairs, the project team activated emergency plans and organized a second simulated transport to ensure safety for the reactor's entry into the substation.

For the official transport from Wujiang, Jiangsu to Aba, Sichuan, three 8x8 full-trailer tractors and an 8-axle vehicle set had to traverse the western Sichuan plateau at altitudes exceeding 3,000 meters. In June, snow covered the mountain peaks of western Sichuan, and the high-altitude, low-oxygen environment reduced oxygen content to only 50% to 60% of that in inland areas, posing challenges for both personnel and equipment. After over a month of transport, the first reactor was finally safely placed on its foundation platform.
The safe arrival of the first reactor has accumulated critical data and practical experience for subsequent transports. China Logistics will continue to provide professional support for the construction of the national UHV power grid.
