This marks another series of achievements in the new energy transformation of Myanmar's rail transit sector following the 2025-2026 fiscal year battery electrification retrofit project for diesel locomotives, indicating that the cooperation between the two parties is advancing from a single project to a series and scale-oriented approach.

This bid win reflects the Myanmar Railway's trust in the product quality and performance capabilities of China Heavy Machinery. The battery electric multiple unit retrofit project will be based on 2 existing diesel locomotives, remanufacturing them into battery electric locomotives. These 2 locomotives are the third and fourth in the series of battery electrification retrofits for Myanmar Railway's diesel locomotives, with the first and second of the series having been delivered on schedule and recognized by the owner.

The charging car retrofit project will involve retrofitting 4 existing ordinary passenger cars. The retrofitted charging cars can be used in conjunction with the aforementioned battery electric locomotives and another 6 electric locomotives also undergoing retrofitting by China Heavy Machinery, forming a "vehicle + charging" collaborative support system with the series projects.
