Wedoany.com Report-Jun 1, Skanska, a leading project development and construction group, has signed a contract with Specialfastigheter Sverige, a Swedish state-owned property company, to expand and renovate the Österåker correctional facility, located north of Stockholm, Sweden. The agreement, valued at approximately Skr1.3 billion ($136 million), will be recorded in Skanska’s Swedish order bookings for the second quarter of 2025.

The overall construction plan involves the reconstruction of two buildings, 13 new buildings, and various smaller service structures.

The project involves significant construction efforts, including the reconstruction of two existing buildings, the development of 13 new buildings, and various smaller service structures. Additionally, the work includes essential ground and foundation preparations. Skanska has been involved in the project since early 2022, completing preparatory works and finalizing the last phase of the construction plan. Furthermore, in April 2025, Skanska entered into a Skr580 million ($58.4 million) agreement with the Municipality of Landskrona to construct a football stadium and an indoor swim centre. Construction is scheduled to begin in August 2025, with the football arena expected to be completed by 2027 and the swim centre by 2028.

“We are proud to contribute to the development of critical infrastructure in Sweden,” said a Skanska representative. “Our collaboration with Specialfastigheter Sverige and other partners reflects our commitment to delivering sustainable and innovative solutions.”
