This is the largest solar-plus-storage project in Hungary and the largest BC photovoltaic power station in Europe to date—with a total installed capacity of 450 MW, paired with a 1 GWh large-scale advanced energy storage system, scheduled for completion later this year.

The power station exclusively uses Hi-MO 9 modules based on LONGi's HPBC 2.0 technology. This choice stems from the "hardcore test" posed by the special climate of Heves County, where the project is located—cold winters, hot summers, large annual temperature variations, and dust intrusion. Hi-MO 9 maintains efficient power generation in complex scenarios such as high temperatures and high humidity, ensuring reliable operation throughout the entire lifecycle of the power station from the source.

According to estimates, the project's annual power generation is approximately 470 GWh, meeting the annual electricity needs of about 106,000 households and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 415,000 tons per year, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions from over 100,000 fuel-powered vehicles. However, the value of this clean electricity goes far beyond carbon reduction figures.

When the blueprint for clean energy translates into tangible benefits, local residents are the first to feel the impact.

Katalin Dósa, Mayor of Sióhalom, expressed her hopes in front of CCTV's cameras: "After the project becomes operational, we expect the local area to receive substantial local business tax revenue. This will enable us to advance various constructions and achieve development visions that would otherwise be difficult to realize without special subsidies. For our community, this is a major leap forward."

She revealed that the project will bring approximately HUF 190 million in local tax revenue annually: "This will bring significant development opportunities to our community and significantly enhance Sióhalom's appeal as a livable place. Our goal is to build a community that is livable, safe, and brings positive energy to every resident."

This tangible income has made previously shelved community construction projects feasible, turning the vision of a better life for this small European town into reality.

Underpinning this public expectation is the developer's rigorous selection of technology routes. The project is developed and constructed by Solarpro, a leading European photovoltaic and energy storage engineering, procurement, and construction contractor, with Renalfa IPP GmbH as the main investor.

László Modos, Country Manager and Head of Development for Renalfa Hungary Kft and Renalfa IPP GmbH in Hungary, stated in an interview: "The entire group has always placed great emphasis on using the highest quality and most efficient advanced equipment available on the market during project construction. I particularly want to highlight the photovoltaic module technology provided to us by LONGi. It is a new solution called 'back contact,' and no project of this scale in Europe has adopted this technology before. All conductive components and busbars are not placed on the front side of the module but are arranged on the back, thereby leaving a larger light-receiving area on the front. Compared to competing products, the conversion efficiency can be relatively improved by 5% to 6%."

Echoing this technical explanation is the strategic positioning of Krasen Mateev, CEO of Solarpro, during the signing ceremony between the two parties: "This 450MW solar power station will become the largest BC power station in Europe and a significant milestone in Solarpro's mission to promote the application of efficient clean energy. Choosing LONGi's advanced BC technology is to maximize the power generation performance and long-term reliability of the entire project. We are setting a new benchmark for utility-scale solar projects in Europe."

From technical details to corporate missions, the deep mutual trust between the two companies is the cornerstone for the realization of this benchmark European power station.

The project party's confidence is not unfounded. Tamás Szemeré, LONGi's Account Manager for Hungary, introduced: "These are the most advanced photovoltaic modules we have delivered for this project. HPBC 2.0 technology offers multiple advantages in power output, conversion efficiency, environmental adaptability, and anti-shading performance."

This technical confidence has been repeatedly validated by global empirical data. Since the launch of Hi-MO 9, multiple demonstration projects distributed across different climate zones have delivered impressive results—from temperate continental climates to tropical arid regions and high-humidity coastlines. Reports from several international authoritative technical service institutions consistently show that compared to mainstream TOPCon modules currently on the market, Hi-MO 9 achieves a stable increase in specific energy yield globally, with gains ranging from 1.21% to 3.92%, and performing particularly well in some scenarios.

Ernő Kis, President of the Hungarian Solar Photovoltaic and Solar Thermal Collectors Association, also commented from an industry trend perspective: "Photovoltaic module technology is becoming increasingly sophisticated, with manufacturers continuously introducing modules with higher conversion efficiency. Currently, module conversion efficiency is around 25%."

On the track of pursuing ultimate efficiency, LONGi's HPBC 2.0 technology is opening a new path for optimizing the levelized cost of electricity for large-scale ground-mounted power stations with quantifiable power generation gains.
