en.Wedoany.com Reported - Global infrastructure company Aecom has been selected by Portuguese airport operator ANA Aeroportos de Portugal (part of the Vinci Airports group) to provide preliminary design services for the new Lisbon airport (Luís de Camões Airport).
This international travel hub will replace Lisbon's existing Humberto Delgado Airport, which struggles to meet growing demand due to limited expansion potential. The new airport site is located in the municipalities of Benavente and Montijo, partially occupying the existing Alochete firing range, across the Tagus River from Lisbon.
Aecom stated that the development will create a unique gateway for Portugal, enabling significant capacity expansion and serving as a catalyst for regional economic growth. The company is currently working with local Portuguese partners to advance the initial phase of design development, providing a full range of technical, design, and project management services.
