Sojitz and partners sign 35-year deal to develop new Uzbekistan airport, with investment exceeding ¥370 billion
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Sojitz, together with Saudi Arabian development and investment company Vision Invest and South Korea's Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC), has jointly announced the signing of a 35-year concession agreement with Uzbekistan Airports for the development and operation of the planned new international airport in Tashkent.
The new airport is scheduled to open in 2030, with a total estimated investment exceeding ¥370 billion, and upon completion will become the largest passenger, cargo, and logistics aviation hub in Central Asia.

The project will be developed and operated jointly by Sojitz, Vision Invest, IIAC, and Uzbekistan Airports, with the four parties integrating their respective expertise to advance the airport's construction. Sojitz will be responsible for leveraging its aviation industry experience to attract airlines, as well as operating airport commercial and ground handling services, to enhance the overall operational value of the new airport.
Once operational, the new airport is expected to have an annual passenger handling capacity of 20 million, twice that of the existing airport. Uzbekistan's real GDP growth rate exceeded 7.7% in 2025, making it the largest market in Central Asia, with a population of approximately 37 million. Under the country's national development strategy, "Uzbekistan-2030," the government plans to drive infrastructure development and aviation sector reforms through a series of public-private partnership (PPP) projects.
