en.Wedoany.com Reported - Greek shipowner Minerva Dry has once again placed an order with Hengli Heavy Industries for a new batch of container ships, adding to its orderbook of container vessels. An updated announcement from Hengli Heavy Industries released on August 2 (covering contracts signed in July) shows that the company, under Andreas Martinos, has reserved multiple 3,100 teu vessels, which feature Hengli's proprietary design.

Hengli Heavy Industries did not disclose the number of vessels, pricing, or delivery schedule for this batch. The design was developed to address regional transportation and feeder fleet renewal needs. This transaction comes just weeks after Minerva ordered four conventional-fuel 6,000 teu vessels at the same Dalian shipyard, which are scheduled for delivery in 2028 and estimated to be worth approximately $320 million.

Prior to the latest order, Minerva already held orders for 13 container ships in China, including four 6,000 teu vessels to be built by Hengli Heavy Industries, five 3,100 teu vessels to be built by Penglai Jinglu, and four 1,800 teu feeder vessels, with the latter split between Yangzijiang Shipbuilding and Huanghai Shipbuilding.

Minerva currently operates nearly 10 container ships, with capacities ranging from approximately 1,760 teu to 2,400 teu. The company has established its presence in the industry through a combination of newbuildings and secondhand vessel acquisitions, with investments in container capacity totaling around $1 billion.
