The unit has maintained stable operation since the initial startup phase, with product quality meeting specification requirements, and the first batch of products has been shipped to Europe. The site's total PVA capacity has thus risen to 210,000 metric tons per year, placing it at the top globally in terms of a single production base for high-end PVA. This new capacity targets high-value application sectors such as photovoltaics, electronics, optical films, and pharmaceuticals, providing further support for the supply of related specialty materials.
PVA is a water-soluble polymer with biodegradable properties, widely used in both industrial and consumer applications. High-purity, high-transmittance specialty grades can be used in optical films, polarizers, pharmaceutical products, and safety glass for automobiles and high-speed trains; textiles, building materials, and soluble packaging are also important application areas. SVW Chemical currently offers more than 100 PVA grades, developed to meet various performance requirements and market uses. The new production line is equipped with alcoholysis and precision purification processes, creating the conditions for large-scale production of specialty PVA products.
During the project construction phase, the team tackled challenges in precise temperature control and product quality consistency. The new polymerization process delivers a 40% capacity increase over previous-generation equipment, and the plant is also equipped with four exhaust gas and wastewater recovery units and an automated packaging system to enhance resource utilization and operational efficiency. The project took 17 months from groundbreaking to completion, accumulating 1.98 million safe work hours; during commissioning, the team optimized equipment performance and process parameters, achieving stable production and ensuring consistent product quality.
SVW Chemical has accumulated more than 40 years of experience in PVA R&D and manufacturing, with its product catalog expanding from a single grade at initial startup to over 100 today. Currently, more than 70 products are exported to over 40 countries and regions, establishing an export foundation in markets such as Europe and the Americas.
