en.Wedoany.com Reported - Greek shipowner Goldenport Shipmanagement has doubled its ultramax newbuilding program at China's Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, adding two 63,500 dwt vessels, both scheduled for delivery in 2029.

The company, led by John Dragnis, had already ordered two sister vessels in June at a unit price of approximately $35 million. The price for the two additional vessels has not been disclosed; if maintained at the previous level, the total value of the four-vessel order would be around $140 million.
This order signals Goldenport's further return to the dry bulk newbuilding segment. The company had previously focused more on secondhand vessel acquisitions and investments in other shipping sectors. Goldenport is a repeat customer at Chinese shipyards, having ordered five 63,500 dwt ultramax vessels from Xiangyu in 2022, becoming the shipyard's first Greek client, with three delivered in 2023 and the remaining two in 2024.
This year, the company also ordered three 1,800 TEU feeder container vessels at China Merchants' restarted Qingshan Shipyard, with deliveries spanning 2027 to 2028. This feeder vessel program is estimated to be worth between $93 million and $99 million.
Goldenport currently manages 31 vessels, including 25 bulk carriers and 6 container ships. Additionally, the company acquired the 176,357 dwt Despotiko, built in 2012, last year, doubling the size of its capesize fleet.
