Shenzhen Yantian Port Breaks China's Port Record for Single-Vessel Cargo Handling Volume

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 2, Shenzhen Yantian Port completed the loading and unloading of 28,684 TEUs on the vessel "New Hamburg Express," setting a new record for single-vessel container handling volume at a Chinese port. The vessel operates on the Gemini Alliance AE1 Europe route and is a 24,000-TEU-class ultra-large container ship, with a length approaching 400 meters. It berthed at Yantian Port on September 29.

During this operation, Yantian Port deployed up to 9 shore cranes simultaneously for loading and unloading. The single operation volume of this vessel approached 29,000 TEUs, covering both concentrated discharge and loading operations.

On July 20 of this year, Yantian Port completed 25,872 TEUs of loading and unloading on the Gemini Alliance AE11 route vessel "Eleonora Maersk," setting the port's single-vessel operation record at that time. This operation volume represents an increase of 2,812 TEUs over that record.

Currently, Yantian Port operates approximately 100 global routes per week, of which 53 connect to APEC member economies. Since 2026, Yantian Port has added 14 new routes connecting to APEC member economies.
