en.Wedoany.com Reported - SLB has signed a multi-year agreement with Equinor to provide advanced reservoir stimulation services on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) and to undertake a major upgrade of the MV Island Captain vessel to support the development of tight offshore reservoirs.

Under the agreement, the Island Captain will be converted into a stimulation vessel with full proppant delivery capability. The upgrade encompasses expanded proppant storage capacity, upgraded processing and mixing systems, increased pumping capability, and optimized deck layout to meet the demands of high-intensity offshore stimulation operations. Upon completion of the upgrade, the vessel will be capable of carrying up to 2 million pounds of proppant.

The two companies stated that this dedicated stimulation capability is designed to support the future development of tight reservoirs on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, where complex completion technologies are expected to play an increasingly important role in maximizing resource recovery.

Ole Christian Meldahl, Managing Director of SLB Scandinavia, stated that the agreement builds on the long-standing collaboration between Equinor and SLB, and that the upgrade of the Island Captain represents a significant investment in offshore stimulation capacity on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

SLB noted that the combination of dedicated offshore capacity and specialized stimulation equipment is expected to improve the execution of high-intensity operations while supporting subsequent reservoir development plans in the region.
