SFA to Supply Approximately KRW 150 Billion Worth of Equipment to LS Cable's U.S. Submarine Cable Factory

en.Wedoany.com Reported - SFA has begun shipping manufacturing equipment to LS Cable & System's submarine cable factory in the United States. The company announced on August 11 that it held a shipping ceremony for the first 10,000-metric-ton turntable bound for LS Cable's Virginia manufacturing plant.

From the fourth quarter of last year to the first quarter of this year, SFA secured turntable supply contracts worth approximately KRW 150 billion and will deliver dozens of turntables to the Virginia plant in phases by the end of 2027.

Turntables are used to wind, store, and transfer finished submarine cables to the next manufacturing process. Since long-distance submarine cables are highly susceptible to excessive tension and torsion, the equipment must precisely control the cable handling process. The turntables supplied by SFA this time exceed 40 meters in diameter.

SFA has collaborated with LS Cable to develop submarine cable manufacturing equipment, including vertical continuous vulcanization (VCV) systems and turntables. The company previously supplied similar equipment to LS Cable's submarine cable factory in Donghae, Gangwon Province.

An SFA official stated that the company plans to leverage its experience in supplying 3,000-ton VCV systems and 10,000-ton turntables to successfully complete the Virginia project and pursue further business opportunities as LS Cable expands its investments in the U.S.
