en.Wedoany.com Reported - At around 3:00 PM on August 12, Air China flight CA723, operated by the domestically produced large aircraft C919, departed from Beijing Capital International Airport bound for Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, officially launching the C919's first international commercial route.
The Beijing Capital-Ulaanbaatar route is scheduled to operate one round-trip flight daily. The outbound flight CA723 departs from Beijing at 3:00 PM and arrives at Ulaanbaatar's Chinggis Khaan International Airport at 5:15 PM; the return flight CA724 departs at 6:30 PM and arrives in Beijing at 8:35 PM.
Currently, Air China operates 12 C919 aircraft, serving routes including Beijing to Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Harbin, and Chongqing, with over 12,000 flights completed and more than 1.62 million passengers safely carried. Ulaanbaatar has thus become the first overseas destination in Air China's C919 fleet.
Air China had previously operated the Hohhot-Ulaanbaatar route using C909 aircraft, and Ulaanbaatar Airport has accumulated relevant experience in ground support, spare parts supply, and flight operations for domestically produced aircraft. The distance between Beijing and Ulaanbaatar is approximately 1,100 kilometers, with a scheduled flight time of about 2 hours and 15 minutes.
According to data from Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), as of August 10, C919 aircraft operated by Air China, China Eastern Airlines, and China Southern Airlines have collectively opened 57 routes, served 25 cities, and safely carried over 7.5 million passengers. The C919 completed its first commercial passenger flight on May 28, 2023, and has since been progressively deployed on domestic routes and routes to the Hong Kong region.
The C919 is a jet-powered trunk airliner independently developed by China in accordance with international airworthiness standards, with a seating capacity of 158 to 192 seats and a designed range of 4,075 to 5,555 kilometers, primarily targeting the short-to-medium-haul trunk aviation market.
