en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 13, Australian materials technology company Zeotech (ASX: ZEO) disclosed that it has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding with VINCI Construction, part of French construction group VINCI, to conduct concrete trials and demonstrations using Zeotech's AusPozz high-reactivity metakaolin, evaluating its performance and application potential in low-carbon concrete.
Under the MoU, Zeotech will supply VINCI Construction project teams with agreed quantities of AusPozz product, along with corresponding technical support and application guidance. Both parties will also exchange trial data and technical documentation, with a focus on verifying whether AusPozz can reduce total cementitious material content and embodied carbon emissions in concrete while maintaining product performance and adapting to modern concrete production systems.
This collaboration is currently at the stage of technical validation and commercial assessment and does not constitute a procurement, supply, or offtake contract. Both parties will evaluate the potential for further commercial cooperation after the trials are completed. The MoU is valid until August 12, 2027, and either party may terminate it with 30 days' prior written notice; if both parties sign a replacement agreement before that date, the MoU will also terminate accordingly.
AusPozz is a supplementary cementitious material processed from Zeotech's wholly owned Toondoon high-purity kaolin resource in Queensland, Australia, and can partially replace Portland cement in concrete formulations. Zeotech stated that independent trials have shown that in optimized concrete formulations, AusPozz can achieve a cement replacement rate of up to 40%, while also improving compressive strength, shrinkage performance, and durability. However, the specific replacement rate still depends on the formulation, raw materials, and engineering application conditions.
Zeotech plans to build an AusPozz production facility at the Port of Bundaberg in Queensland, with kaolin feedstock supplied by the Toondoon project. The pre-feasibility study completed by the company in 2025 proposes an initial production line with a planned annual capacity of 300,000 tonnes, an initial mine life of 20 years, and reserved expansion space for a second production line. This capacity is part of the proposed project plan and does not yet equate to existing commercial output.
VINCI Construction's business covers buildings, transportation, energy, water, and industrial facilities. This collaboration provides AusPozz with a validation channel for entry into international engineering application systems, but whether it can subsequently translate into commercial orders still depends on trial results, cost competitiveness, supply capacity, and whether both parties sign further agreements.
