en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 13, the Lianyungang-Huai'an section of the Lianyungang-Yizheng Crude Oil Pipeline Project under China Oil & Gas Pipeline Network Corporation (PipeChina) was successfully commissioned in one go, marking the official operation of China's first 10-million-ton-class crude oil pipeline at the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
The Lianyungang-Huai'an section starts from the first station in Xuwei New Area, Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, and ends at the Huai'an Oil Transfer Station of the Rizhao-Yizheng Pipeline in Huaiyin District, Huai'an City, with a total length of 143.8 kilometers, a designed annual oil transfer capacity of 18.5 million tons, and a maximum daily oil transfer capacity of up to 70,000 tons.
After commissioning, the pipeline will connect to the existing Rizhao-Yizheng Crude Oil Pipeline at Huai'an, continuing to transport imported crude oil unloaded at Lianyungang Port southward to the Yizheng Station, a key crude oil hub in eastern China, forming a new crude oil transportation corridor among Lianyungang, Huai'an, and Yizheng.
The new corridor primarily serves refining and chemical enterprises in Jiangsu and along the Yangtze River, increasing the crude oil supply sources for refining bases along the river, enhancing the capacity to allocate resources unloaded at Lianyungang Port to the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and jointly forming a multi-channel supply system with the existing Rizhao-Yizheng Pipeline.
Construction of the Lianyungang-Huai'an section commenced in October 2024 and achieved full line connection in June 2026, crossing rivers, highways, railways, and the Jiangnan water network area along the route. The project adopted trenchless technologies such as directional drilling to complete multiple crossing operations, reducing disturbance to river channels, water networks, and the surrounding environment during pipeline installation.
The Lianyungang-Yizheng Crude Oil Pipeline Project has a total length of approximately 435 kilometers and a designed annual oil transfer capacity of 18.5 million tons. With the Lianyungang-Huai'an section being the first to be commissioned, it will further connect the Xuwei Port Area of Lianyungang, northern Jiangsu, and the Yizheng crude oil hub, promoting unified allocation of imported crude oil in the Yangtze River Delta region.
