The contract falls under Part A of the Western-Eastern Interregional Grid Expansion Plan in India and was awarded through a competitive tariff-based bidding process.

This award pertains to the TL05 transmission line package. The scope of work involves bypassing, tapping, and reconfiguring existing 765 kV transmission lines, including adjusting the connection arrangements of the Raigarh—Dharamjaygarh and Raigarh—Raigarh lines to form a new Raigarh—Dharamjaygarh double-circuit transmission corridor.

The contract also includes connecting the Dharamjaygarh—Jharsuguda 765 kV double-circuit line into the Raigarh substation, as well as constructing a 765 kV double-circuit line between the two Raigarh substations. Bajel Projects will undertake line design, equipment procurement, civil works, installation, testing, commissioning preparation, and substation interface works.

Power Grid Corporation of India issued the award notification on behalf of its project company. This project company is responsible for implementing the Western-Eastern Interregional Grid Expansion Plan, with the TL05 package aimed at reorganizing existing high-voltage transmission lines in the region and increasing power transfer capacity between the western and eastern grids.

Bajel Projects has classified this order under the "Ultra-Mega" category, which corresponds to contracts with a value of no less than INR 4 billion including taxes. This contract is a formal EPC award with an execution period of 33 months from the date of issuance of the award notification, after which the project will proceed to the mobilization and construction implementation phase.
