en.Wedoany.com Reported - Inland Terminals Group (ITG) and its authorized Hyster dealer Heffiq have announced the deployment of a battery-electric reachstacker at the ITG Venray-Wanssum terminal in the Netherlands. ITG will begin using the Hyster® RSJ46-33XDL battery-electric reachstacker in August 2026, marking the start of a 24-month on-site development period to further validate and refine the technology in real terminal operations.

The electric reachstacker is powered by four 130 kWh lithium-ion battery packs, supporting a full 8-hour shift of operation. The battery packs are positioned on both sides of the machine, and with the accompanying charger, the complete system can charge from 20% to 80% in approximately 4.5 hours. The equipment shares software with Hyster electric forklift trucks, supporting common displays, operator interfaces, service tools, and diagnostic functions.

This battery-electric reachstacker builds on the development of other Hyster electric container handling equipment, incorporating many common systems from previous projects, including the battery-electric empty container handler pilot project at Malta Freeport Terminals.

Lucien Robroek, President of Hyster's global large truck division, stated that ports around the world are highly focused on reducing emissions while maintaining high levels of productivity, and ITG is leading this transition in inland container transport. Deploying this Hyster battery-electric reachstacker together with ITG is an important step in proving how the technology can support demanding real-world duty cycles in terminal operations, while helping to optimize the operator experience and supporting terminal operators in their move toward lower-emission, more sustainable operations.

ITG has a strong track record in sustainability initiatives and was the first inland terminal operator in the Netherlands and Belgium to achieve the third level of the Lean & Green Star certification—an award that recognizes achievements in reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

As ITG's local authorized Hyster dealer, Heffiq maintains a long-standing relationship with ITG, providing equipment and services to ensure smooth terminal operations. Heffiq will handle all routine maintenance requests for the equipment and respond as the first-line service provider just as it does for other Hyster equipment, while also providing factory support for the high-voltage systems.
