First Shield Machine of Shanghai Rail Transit Line 20 Launches in China

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, the shield machine "Shen'an No. 1" for the up line between Daning Park Station (formerly Pengyuepu Road Station) and Shanghai Circus World Station, Section 5 of Phase I of Shanghai Rail Transit Line 20, was successfully launched. This marks the first tunnel section on Line 20 to commence shield tunneling, and also signifies that all urban lines approved during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period have now entered the shield tunneling stage.

The up line section launched this time has a total length of approximately 1,052.23 meters, comprising 878 rings, and uses socket-type segment linings. The tunneling starts from the eastern end shaft of Daning Park Station. The tunnel successively passes beneath Pengpu River and the Daning Park ecological green space, representing a typical sensitive construction zone of "river + park."

Phase I and the eastern extension of Line 20 have a total length of approximately 28.4 kilometers, all laid underground, with 21 stations. The line starts at Jiaotong Road Station in Putuo and ends at Beixinyuan Road Station in Pudong New Area. It is a tangential line in the northern part of the urban area, passing through the administrative districts of Putuo, Jing'an, Hongkou, Yangpu, and Pudong New Area. The line connects functional zones such as Shanghai West Railway Station (Zhenru Sub-center), Daning, Jiangwan-Wujiaochang Sub-center, Senlan, and Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, enhancing the service scope and radiating functions of the two sub-centers, linking the transformation and development of the northern region, filling the gap in rail transit in Gaodong Town, and effectively connecting the various radial lines entering the city center from the north, thereby balancing network passenger flow.
