Goldwind Signs Contract with Dunarea Power for Topalu Energy Storage Project in Romania
en.Wedoany.com Reported - VENSYS Elektrotechnik, a subsidiary of Goldwind, recently announced that the company has signed a contract with Romania's Dunarea Power for the Topalu battery energy storage system during The smarter E Europe exhibition in Munich, and will build a 10.8MW/23.4MWh energy storage facility on a turnkey basis. The project plans to configure 28 sets of VENSTORE L800 Pro energy storage equipment, medium-voltage transformer systems, and a plant-wide energy management system (EMS), with commercial operation scheduled for December 2026.

The Topalu project is located in Constanța County, Romania, and is developed by Dunarea Power. The scope of construction includes wind turbine generators, step-up substations, battery energy storage facilities, medium-voltage collection lines, on-site roads, and turbine erection platforms. The project is supported through Romania's Modernisation Fund "Renewable Energy and Energy Storage" scheme, with project number SMIS 333433.
The procurement of wind power equipment was completed at the end of 2025. According to Dunarea Power's procurement documents, GOLDWIND ENERGY SRL won the bid for 7 wind turbine generators with a contract value of EUR 31.5 million, excluding VAT. The minimum requirement of the tender was a total installed capacity of no less than 47.6MW for the 7 units. Goldwind's turbines have a unit capacity of 7.2MW, bringing the total installed capacity to 50.4MW. The equipment grid connection deadline is no later than December 31, 2026.
The energy storage system will operate in conjunction with the Topalu wind farm. VENSYS Elektrotechnik's scope of supply includes 28 sets of VENSTORE L800 Pro battery energy storage equipment, medium-voltage transformer systems, and the VENSYS energy management system, with an energy storage power of 10.8MW and a capacity of 23.4MWh.
The grid connection works for the project are progressing in parallel. In April 2026, Dunarea Power submitted an environmental permit application for the 110kV grid connection substation of the Topalu wind and energy storage project; in August, the Constanța environmental authority completed the screening procedure for the project's road access works, and no full environmental impact assessment is required for the relevant works.
VENSYS Elektrotechnik is an entity within the Goldwind group. According to Goldwind's annual report, the company indirectly holds a 63% interest in VENSYS Elektrotechnik through its subsidiaries. VENSYS's business covers electrical technical services, wind power equipment, and the manufacturing of related electrical systems.
