CIMC Raffles Successfully Delivers First Vessel of SMYRIL LINE RORO Project

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 25, the 3,300-meter-lane high-performance clean energy RoRo vessel "SKIPANES," built by CIMC Raffles for the Faroese shipping company SMYRIL LINE, was successfully delivered at the Longkou base. This vessel is the first delivered ship under the two-vessel RoRo order signed under the 2024 strategic cooperation agreement between the two parties. This delivery not only marks the tangible results of their in-depth cooperation but also highlights CIMC Raffles' robust capabilities in the design and construction of high-end clean energy RoRo vessels, setting another benchmark for the company's expansion into the global high-end RoRo market.

The RoRo vessel project has an overall length of 189.5 meters, a beam of 27.2 meters, a design draft of 6 meters, and a design service speed of 18 knots, classed with DNV. The vessel is equipped with a high-efficiency propulsion system to ensure maneuverability and reliability under adverse sea conditions. Additionally, the vessel is built to methanol-ready specifications and is equipped with a battery system and shore power connection. Compared with SMYRIL LINE's existing fleet, carbon emissions per ton of cargo can be reduced by over 60%. The vessel is designed to tackle the complex sea conditions and extreme climate of the North Atlantic, balancing efficient operations with low carbon emissions.

As the first high-end RoRo vessel project undertaken by the company under an EPC turnkey contract, this vessel features high construction standards, cutting-edge low-carbon technologies, and stringent requirements for sea condition adaptability. Multiple core processes, including design for North Atlantic-specific operating conditions, integration of clean energy systems, and high-precision hull construction, all presented new challenges. With no mature experience to draw upon for the first-built vessel, the project team relied on solid construction techniques, rigorous quality control, and efficient project execution—from detailed drawing optimization to on-site precision construction—earning repeated high recognition and unanimous praise from the owner and classification society throughout the process, fully demonstrating CIMC Raffles' professional construction capabilities and contract fulfillment performance.
