INGEMMET Estimates Approximately 2.6 Million Tonnes of Graphite Resources in La Libertad, Peru

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 25, the Geological, Mining and Metallurgical Institute of Peru (INGEMMET) published the report "Geological Exploration of Graphite in the Upper Chicama Basin, La Libertad Region." The study delineated five sectors with graphite prospecting potential in the Upper Chicama Basin of the La Libertad region, of which the Huamachuco–Angasmarca sector has estimated graphite resources of approximately 2.6 million metric tonnes.

The five sectors delineated are Baños Chimú, Huaranchal–Quiruvilca, Huamachuco–Sanagorán, Huamachuco–Angasmarca, and Sarín. INGEMMET has prioritized Huamachuco–Angasmarca and Huaranchal–Quiruvilca for further research, with the resource estimate for the former representing the main quantified result published in this study.

The research is included in INGEMMET's Economic Geology Series Bulletin No. 101, compiled by Mario Francisco Carpio Ronquillo, Jesús Fuentes Palomino, Jhonny Torre Antay, Mónica Mariela Vera Holgado, and Andrés David Zuloaga Gastiaburu. The report was officially published on August 25.

INGEMMET proposes to continue studying the specific properties of graphite in the Upper Chicama Basin and further assess its potential for use in graphene and battery anode materials. The results released to date pertain to the geological prospecting and resource potential research stage.
