Singapore Airlines to Operate A380 on 10 Routes in 2026

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Singapore Airlines' Airbus A380 fleet is currently primarily deployed on routes from Changi Airport (SIN) to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD), both of which maintain a double-daily frequency, making them the airline's largest markets for A380 capacity. As the global launch customer for the A380, Singapore Airlines initially deployed the aircraft type on the Singapore-Sydney route, subsequently expanding it to multiple international destinations.

Data from online aviation data analytics company Cirium shows that Singapore Airlines operates four daily flights on the Singapore-London route, two of which are operated by the A380. With this capacity scale, the airline has become one of the six A380 operators at London Heathrow Airport, with the other five being British Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, and Qantas.

The Singapore-Sydney route also maintains a double-daily frequency, making it the second most popular route for Singapore Airlines' A380. This route supplements the multiple daily services between the two airports, although the latter are operated with other aircraft types. Additionally, Singapore Airlines plans to launch additional services to Western Sydney Airport (WSI) using other widebody aircraft starting from November 2026.

In the Indian market, the third most popular route for Singapore Airlines' A380 is the Singapore-Mumbai Airport (BOM) route, which maintains a daily frequency with a total of 327 flights scheduled from September 2026. The Singapore-Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) route also operates daily, but the total number of booked A380 flights is 299, slightly lower than Mumbai. Leveraging the transit network at the Changi hub, these two routes cater to high passenger demand from Australia, New Zealand, other parts of Asia, and North America.

Routes to Melbourne Airport (MEL), Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG), and Frankfurt Airport (FRA) are also included in the airline's daily A380 services, but all exhibit seasonal characteristics. A380 operations on the Melbourne and Shanghai routes continue until the end of March, while the Frankfurt route operates daily until the end of October and resumes in the Northern Hemisphere summer from March of the following year. Auckland Airport (AKL) will see the return of the A380 during the Southern Hemisphere summer, operating daily from October 25 to March 27 of the following year, totaling 154 flights, supplementing the airline's existing Boeing 777-300ER services, which also serve Auckland and Christchurch.

The Dubai International Airport (DXB) route has been served by a daily A380 flight since the end of March; the Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) route resumes A380 service from June 20, 2027, but operates for only one month, totaling 35 flights before switching back to other aircraft types. Overall, Singapore Airlines' annual A380 flight volume has grown year by year since the pandemic, with only 105 flights operated in 2021 and 3,088 flights planned for the full year of 2026.
